I've had a couple of requests for information about Genesee Valley Little League, and thought I'd pass along this request for volunteers that I found on craigslist.
Parents who would like to sign up their kids can call the "League Line" at

Driving down Thurston this evening was yet another disappointing experience. It is again/still filled with litter. THe 'clubs' were hopping with illegally parked cars. LOTS of people just hanging out.... I noticed yet another 'corner store'. But, the highlight of what's new on Thurston is a
CASKET STORE!
I don't believe that i have ever seen a casket store before - and I find it strangely ironic

Marlborough Road has a LOT of snow/slush still in the road and we've also had a LOT of residential plows clear driveways and leave snow in the road and/or in front of other driveways.
Any other streets having similar problems??

Join us for this enjoyable winter event by either hosting a dinner or by attending as guest. This is a pot luck event, so pull out your favorite recipes. The host will coordinate the dinner and notify guests of time and what to bring. The guest(s) will attend, meet new neighbors and enjoy a social evening in the 19th Ward. Minutes by Ofc. Kristin Runyon
Meeting was attended by CPO Runyon, Lt. Dearcop, Commander Ciminelli, and seven concerned members of the community. We started with introductions and did a brief recap of last month’s meeting where we divided up the chores for National Night Out, assigning most to John Borek as he was not present to refuse.
We first discussed some recent problems:
Stolen Cars. Many of you may remember my shock and anger over the summer when the stats showed that more than a third o…

... and a time for every purpose under heaven.
So says the writer of Ecclesiastes. And that implies that seasons both begin and end. At 4pm on Christmas Eve, our "season" at The Arnett must come to an end. But even as the end of one season ushers in the beginning a new one, so it is for Kingdom Ventures. We're not by any stretch going out of business, but expanding our web presence and looking for 2010 to be a bigger year than any we've had so far.
As we bring things to a close on Arnett Blvd,…

From Crime Prevention Officer Kristin Runyon: We have had burglaries surrounding Brooks Ave area. Mostly contained by Spruce to Ellicott, Thurston to Millbanks. There were seven daytime burglaries in the last two weeks. Most have been forced entry so there should be some noise. Some had two suspects, some mentioned a small white car possibly involved.
Please be extra vigilant and watch out for neighbors. Call in anyone and anything suspicious to 911.
Make sure "stay at home folks" know since t…

*Just a note -- Patricia Hagerman has donated a laptop for the Sullivans to use at the hospital, so we can strike that from the list. Thanks, Patricia!*

Dear friends, neighbors, and colleagues,
For those of you who are preparing meals for the Sullivans, we wanted to offer one way to do this. If you'd like, we are encouraging folks to make a healthy, hom…

From the 19th Ward Community Association:
"Hello friends,
As many of you already know, Bill Sullivan (son of Barb & Bill, husband to Juliet and father to daughters Molly & Josie) suffered a massive hemorrhage in his brain early yesterday morning. He has survived surgery to relieve the pressure and this morning has shown a couple of small but encouraging signs of responsiveness. His condition is still quite grave, however, and the family would like their friends and neighbors to keep him…
