Voice of the Finger Lakes, Local Resident

There is a great article in the current edition of Life in the Finger Lakes magazine, featuring 19th Ward resident Michael Warren Thomas.  "His velvety rich voice fills the airwaves every weekend."  The article details how he offers "an unparalleled knowledge of all things food, wine, and gardening in the Finger Lakes... His Saturday and Sunday morning radio shows on WYSL-1040 AM are often required listening for folks who like to keep up with the region's wine and restaurant scene."Check out…See More

19th Ward Community Cats

This group is for 19th Ward residents who are concerned about the plight of stray, feral, and abandoned cats in our neighborhood.  It is our goal to live in a community where all cats are treated humanely and cats and humans live in harmony.

Rapids Cemetery

Posted on October 6, 2017 at 3:01am 0 Comments

During River Romance this coming weekend, visit Rapids Cemetery on Congress Ave.  John Curran has spearheaded a long invigoration of this historic area, which few know about.  Major work has been done in cooperation with a number of volunteer groups.  Check it out from Noon to 4 PM, 10/8/17.

Here is an older description from City newspaper, interesting from an historic point of view.  John has recruited many to help transform and preserve this hidden treasure for all to see.  …

Ali's Tailor Shop, now in the former Hunts Hardware, was featured in a segment on Ch. 13 on Friday night.  To view, follow link:  http://13wham.com/news/local/alis-tailor-shop-continues-family-tradition-in-rochester

Ali has long been on Thurston Rd. from his first shop opposite Rite Aid, to one across from Thurston Garage, and now in the old Hunts building.  He has invested in the…

Dirt Bikes on City Streets

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 1:10am 1 Comment

There are an increasing number of dirt bikes being driven on City streets.  This is illegal.  They are meant to be driven in isolated areas on tracks or paths, not in the City, which is dangerous to pedestrians and other vehicles.  The noise is also offensive as they drive back and forth in front of your house.

You can sign a petition urging the Mayor to enforce the law against driving these and ATVs on City streets.  See:  …

Of course I'm your friend, and you are my friend.  By being friends, what does that have to do with Location 19?  Will we get a free pizza from Menenzes?  That would be nice.  I'll even pay for it!

OK, Problems with MacClurg's double accounts have been taken care of.  You reinstated her newer account on the Southwest Garden Group and suspended the old one which has been unusable by her but has been causing confusion.  I also suspended her old account from Location19.  That will leave her old content on the site and avoid people sending messages to the old account that she cannot receive emails from.

Hey Mark, why is this on my page? You’ve been suspended from Southwest Garden Group An administrator has removed you from this group. (kind of harsh?) tx MacClurg

Sorry to take so long to see this...I'm slowly getting caught up to the social media world! :)

I can best answer your question by having you check out our website www.simplifiedbuilding.com

Our bread and butter is railing, but clothing racks, desk/table frames, and fitness structures are just a few of the many other applications of our pipe fittings.

Hope to meet you in person some day!

Hi Mark,
I'm attaching the form for you to use to request free trees from the city. My husband and I started out identifying which homes on our street had no trees in the tree lawn/subway. At those homes where no one answered the door, I attached to the request form a note providing my contact information. I did find that most of my positive results came when I had personal contact with the neighbor.

The person to contact at the city is Rick, Rochester Dept. of  Forestry, phone 428-1218.

If you have any other questions, let me know.
Good luck!

OK, here is a test post with 2 links in it similar to what I sent out to Toni

"You're our first new member to join in response to the 19 Ward Housing Committee invitation.  I was very impressed with the first meeting.  Everyone participated effectively.  Now that you are a member of Location 19, when you sign-in you can post to the Discussion Forum, Events calendar and Blog section of the site and you can join any of the various groups to participate in the discussions there.  Be sure to check out the 19th Ward Housing Committee group.

Being a group member not only lets you post to the group but it will also permit you to receive email notifications from that group about events and other info that may not be posted on Location19 itself. Be sure your email preferences are set for you to receive email notices. Here is the Location19 Email Preferences instruction page. "

Let me know what you find Mark.
