Mark your calendars now for Small Business Saturday:  November 24.

Rather than fighting your way through the crowds at the mall, spend the day shopping at the small businesses scattered through the neighborhood and city!

Another new breakfast/lunch spot:  Sonnyside Family Diner, 366 Thurston Road.  Don & John have both checked it out - good food, prompt service!  I hope to get over there one day this week.

Two new businesses are open in Brooks Landing area.  Subway opened on Thursday, 1/26, in the Business Center at 910 Genesee Street, next to the California Rollin', Etc. location (still under construction).

And, the Brooks Landing Diner is now open in the plaza at the corner of Barton Street - 7 am - 4 pm, seven days a week.  Offering traditional diner food, they also offer some Korean specialty dishes.  A grand opening is planned soon!

Be sure to check them both out!

NeighborGood Grant reminder!  Neighborhood Associations, Block Clubs and Business Associations can apply for funding to support activities.

The application used to reference the Neighbors Building Neighborhoods (NBN) plans, but most of those references have been removed and the plans are difficult to locate.  If you have an idea, and wish to link it to a neighborhood or community plan, you can use the South West Quadrant Strategic Plan.

To find the NeighborGood Grant information, go to www.racf.org and click on the grant link.  To find the South West Quadrant Plan, go to the City of Rochester Web-site at  http://www.cityofrochester.gov/article.aspx?id=8589939495

(this should take you directly to the South West Neighborhood Service Center's page).

If you need any help - let me know, and I'll help out where possible!

The Rochester Area Community Foundation NeighborGood Grants application is now available on-line!  This is an excellent resource for block clubs, business associations and neighborhood associations.

Block Clubs can receive up to $500; Neighborhood and Business Associations can receive up to $2,000.

I would be willing to give technical assistance to groups if needed, but it is a fairly simple application.  Click on the link, or go to www.racf.org for more information
