Hi everyone,

Last week some of us were talking about the possibility of having adult book groups that might meet at the library on a monthly or bimonthly basis. What's your opinion? If this is something you'd like to participate in, what would it look like?

I'm the adult services Librarian at the Arnett Library. I'd be happy to get the books for the discussion whatever you all decide. I'll also be there to help stimulate conversation. I'm sure whatever everyone else says will be more interesting than what i come up with. I have been trying to do book discussions with All Rochester Reads the Same Book and the Big Read. I think something more contemporary would be fun but I'll read anything and let you all decide!

Last year my wife and I attended a Jim the Boy book discussion that Jennifer facilitated. It was fun and interesting.

I love the idea!

I like the idea too, but work many evenings. Please let all know if you decide on a schedule, and hopefully it can rotate so people can participate in programs if afternoon or evening.

I'd love to participate in a monthly book group. Thursday nights usually do not work for me, but any other time would be great. We've just moved to Arnett Blvd this past summer and I'd like make more friends in the neighborhood.

Sounds like fun. Especially with someone like Jennifer on hand.

We finally have someone who is interested in hosting a book discussion group at the library. Her name is Shawn Futch. She has hosted other book groups around the rochester area. Her first book discussion will be at the Arnett Library on Saturday May 15th at 1 pm. The book discussed will be Lemon City by Elaine Meryl Brown. I hope some of you can participate. We have copies of the book available at the library.

We are also having a discussion this thursday for all of rochester read the same book. We will be talking about Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. There are book discussion guides at the library. We will have some light refreshments. (March 11, 2010 at 7 pm)

Jennifer, can you supply some info on what Lemon City is about? Maybe a few words on plot?
Thanks.

In an isolated town in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the cardinal rule is not to marry outsiders. Faye Dunlap marries Harry (from New York City) for her ticket out of Lemon City. Shortly after the wedding, Harry turns up dead and now suspicion is on Faye.

I'll check it out! Count me in if I am not working then; too early to say.
